Ron Wyatt’s China
Photo Exhibition at the Calumet Gallery
October 26 to November 4, 2011

The Calumet Gallery is pleased to present “Ron Wyatt’s China,” a solo exhibition of large-scale photographs of China by editorial and corporate photographer Ron Wyatt from October 26 to November 4, 2011.

Please join Ron Wyatt and the BlackRapid team at the opening reception on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 from 7-10 PM at the Calumet Gallery, 22 West 22nd St (2nd Floor), New York, NY.
The reception is free and there will be R-Strap giveaways throughout the evening.

This collection of more than thirty newly printed large-scale images by Ron Wyatt represents two bodies of work: photographs of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and images of China’s cities, towns and people. Wyatt says:

“Photographing the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympic Games was the ultimate photography assignment for me. Having the opportunity to visually report on this great athletic competition through my photographs was a life-changing experience. After three weeks of covering the Olympic Games, I had but one regret–I hadn’t seen much of China. That all changed when I served as the guest pro photographer on a photography tour of the country for M&M Photo Tours. I’m overjoyed to be able to share many of my images and observations from that trip.”

Wyatt’s Olympic photos include iconic images of athletes from many countries, including an almost gravity-defying image of USA gymnast (and Dancing with the Stars winner) Shawn Johnson, an emotion-filled photo of Spanish Tennis star Rafael Nadal and photos from the opening and closing ceremonies. Wyatt’s images from across China include breathtaking scenes and a diversity of natural and man-made landmarks, including photos from Tiananmen Square, the Terra Cotta Warriors at Xi’an, the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai and The Great Wall. But what truly stands out are his portraits of people. People at work and people at play, young children and the elderly going about life. Through his photographs, Ron Wyatt gives us a glimpse into the ever-changing landscape of modern China.
