The Boob Strap is Here!

Digital Wedding Forum posted a great article about our new RS-W1 Women’s Strap!
Writer Carli Morgan was VERY candid about the advantages of our latest addition to the R-Strap lineup.
In her words:
“Boys and girls are different. When we hit puberty we become very different….
Black Rapid has released a solution to the problem. The RS-W1.
It stays neatly between your breast, and allows you to keep your camera safely off of the ground while your hands are free.”
Carli also took the time to interview our friend and PhotoSister, LaRae Lobdell.

BLACKRAPID WINS SHOOTOUT OVER SUN-SNIPER & CAMERA SLINGER

In a recent review by the folks over at PhotoInduced.com, Blackrapid was chosen as the front runner of the camera slings!
The review compared straps from 3 different companies (BLACKRAPID, Sun-Sniper, and Camera Slinger)
While all 3 straps have their pros (some very similar to others), here’s what they had to say about BLACKRAPID’s RS-7:
“The Black Rapid system with a slim shoulder strap, 2 brakes for camera control,
a complete line of accessories to customize it and go double camera, is the one we felt most comfortable with.
Over the 3 we felt it had the most features that we needed, and a price that was reasonable.”

Leaps and Bounds Ahead of Traditional Camera Straps
“The BlackRapid system features a simple yet uniquely revolutionary design which is effective in execution. I really liked how the the strap kept the camera comfortably out of the way yet quickly accessible, and how the upside-down design prevented the strap from interfering with shooting. The contoured pad is a pleasure on the shoulders and prevents slippage. The whole system oozes quality and it is obvious that a lot of thought has been put into the design, with nice touches such as clips and carabiners for easy removal, and the flexible MODS system.”

“It seems ridiculous that I spent a small fortune on camera bodies and lenses, yet all this time a $65 camera strap could have made using them much more comfortable and convenient. My Canon strap is now at the back of a drawer, never to see the light of day again. Highly recommended.”

Cliff Wedding
“I’ve always loved my BlackRapid R-Strap. As a wedding photojournalist it allows me the freedom to work with one or more camera’s without feeling cluttered and the sense of security is fantastic. When asked to photograph a bride and groom climbing a 400 foot cliff to exchange vows on the top, I knew my R-Strap was going to be a key piece of equipment for the climb. It allowed me to have my camera secure and ready for the shot at any moment without being in my way while I climbed. This allowed me to move faster and enjoy the shoot more. I can’t imagine working without one again! Thank you!!”- Matt Grazier

The Strap For Me
“The action is almost like picking your camera off a table, it’s that frictionless. But when you set it down again, it’s still attached to your body. I was really surprised at how much lighter my camera felt when using this strap, because the weight is distributed differently. This was really my ’surprise gift’ of the season, even though I had requested it!”- Matt Haines

Last Minute Gift Ideas
Lisa Bettany of MostlyLisa.com has given the R-Strap a nice shout out on her Last Minute Gift Ideas for photographers. Thanks, Lisa!“BlackRapid RS-5 strap: Neck pain is one of the huge downsides of lugging your camera around with you all day. Unfortunately, as a photographer, that’s your job! So give your photo sweetie the gift of a better camera strap. I’ve been using mine for a week and love it. Yes it’s a bit bulky, and may look dorky with evening wear, but hey, we’re not the ones that are supposed to look pretty! Also, camera straps that say “Canon 5DMKII” on them are basically large, flashing signs that say, “Hey thieves, please steal me!” Sacrificing boasting rights > having your baby nicked!”

Wow! What a Great Strap
“I instantly fell in love with this strap. Since receiving it had a chance to shoot in the snow with it and even handling several portable light stands and doing several other tasks was very simple. The strap held the camera at my side away from the front of my body and out of harms way. The strap was still very comfortable after the shoot.”- Francois Cleroux at EyesOnPhoto.com

“The Best Purchase I Have Made in Photography”
“So this is the first time I have ever written a manufacturer regarding something that I have bought.I had to tell you how thrilled I am with my new RS-4 Strap. I just got it shipped in and took it for a five day shoot in Jordan. This was five days of non-stop moving. I climbed mountains, through valleys, up cliffs and down to the lowest point on earth the Dead Sea. You see I love photography but hate being a pack mule. The RS-4 allowed me to carry a Nikon D300 with a 18-200mm lens without any trouble. I had a 10-20mm in my pocket and a 50mm in another. It felt light as air and was literally on me for 16 hours a day! The little pocket was perfect to carry some extra memory and I was good for 16 hours of shooting.
This is simply put the best purchase I have made in photography. It has increased my enjoyment tenfold. I wanted to drop you a line to let you know how happy I am to have purchased your product. It is worth every penny I have spent and more. It is rare to purchase something that so exceeds your expectations.
With great appreciation,
Patrick Galletti”

Photographer Gift Guide
“The “R Strap” (the R stands for Rapid) is particularly useful for event photographers and people shooting in a fast-paced environment. One model, the R5, has compartments in the strap for an extra battery, memory cards, business cards or ID, even a cell phone pocket that will fit an iPhone. They also have a double strap so you can have a camera on each side — the first I’ve seen like this. But the real beauty of these straps is their ease and functionality.”- Shelly Perry on The Photographer’s Life

R-Photographers, RS-5 Release, RS DR-1 Upgrade
There are a lot of big things happening at BlackRapid. We’ve just updated our website with a whole new look, you can see it at www.blackrapid.com
However, our latest project is an entirely new website, R-Photographers. RPM (R-Photographers Members) is a fast growing community of photographers, professionals and amateurs alike, where you can share your work and receive comments, network with other professionals, find jobs, brides and gigs and even find an assistant. There’s a classified section to sell your old gear and a number of open forums to discuss just about anything. RPM is totally free to join and a great place to learn, share and grow as a photographer.
The address is www.rphotographers.com and we hope that everyone will join! To celebrate the launch, we are giving out a number of prizes, including 5 of the brand new RS-5 straps. We will also be doing future giveaways with products like the Double Strap (DR-1).
Big news on the product front – we are excited to announce the release of our newest strap, the RS-5!
The RS-5 is a unique, layered design that utilizes extremely powerful magnets to create a storage system suitable for carrying smartphones, large batteries, all your memory and other accessories. The RS-5 is in stock (although somewhat limited) and ready to ship. Place your order today to get one!
Another piece of news is the addition of the CoupleR system to our existing Double Strap. If you have ordered a Double Strap recently, you may have noticed that it included a mysterious piece in the package. This is a CoupleR, and you can use it to create a cross piece on the lower back. We think this is a great addition, because it pulls the cameras closer to the small of your back, which provides better back support and further reduces any slipping of the shoulder pads. We are offering these free to every customer who purchased a Double Strap before July 17th. Those of you who placed orders for the DR-1 Double Strap before July 17th will have already received a special notice on this offer.

R-STRAP – World’s most comfortable and fast camera strap
California Sunbounce Press Release
Garlstorf n. Hamburg, Germany, March 30, 2009——- GRAB and CLICK. The R-STRAP offers unparalled ease of access to your camera. R-STRAP is the most innovative camera strap that ever hit the market. Especially digital SLR photographers will appreciate this effective system. The innovative photographic and lighting equipment manufacturer CALIFORNIA SUNBOUNCE has been appointed to European distributor by BlackRapid.
Wolfgang-Peter Geller, professional photographer and owner of California Sunbounce, is very excited about the R-STRAP “I can not tell how much I hate camera straps. They’re uncomfortable, there’s no good way to wear them. Put the strap around your neck and the camera flops around awkwardly on your chest as you move. Your long lenses stick out and bump into things. Bending down, you have to clutch your camera. Wear it over your shoulder and it’s hard to quickly and securely bring the camera to your face.”
Update: CALIFORNIA SUNBOUNCE is not the European distributor for Blackrapid. But thanks for loving the R-Strap.

LOVE your products

Hi guys,
LOVE your products. Actually own them all – bought one, had to have another with a coupler – then recently got my DR-1 double strap and again, LOVE it.
…sorry about the cheesy grin, but it’s the only photo of me with the straps!
Best Regards,
Bruce Benedict
My neck is thanking you
I know you hear this after every sale you make but this is the best camera strap in the world. I got it just two days after I ordered it and have had it on my 30D for about ten minutes and already I am flipping out. It’s so simple and ergonomic with ridiculously easy adjustments. I shoot with Canon L-series lenses which, as you know, weigh about a billion pounds (as least it feels that way with the old strap). My neck is thanking you and so is my personal chiropractor, who is my wife. How has it taken this long to design a quality camera strap?!?! The construction is top notch which makes me happy as it is now attached to $3000 worth of camera. The only useless part of the whole package is the nifty bag it came in as it will never go back in there. Thank you for your creation and useful contribution to photography.Kevin Zimarik

U.S. Army photojournalist -Using the Rstrap

Hello,
I am Seattle native and U.S. Army photojournalist currently serving in Basra, Iraq. I’ve been using the RS-4 for 6 months now in Iraq and I cant remember how I ever got around with a camera before it! Wearing body armour and all the other stuff we have to carry when we are outside the wire makes carrying a camera around extremely difficult, your strap is a god-send. It keeps my camera out of the way when I’m not using it so that i can still easily raise my weapon, climb in and out of vehicles and helicopters, i can even run without getting a bloody nose from my camera hitting me in the face. I was so excited when i found out about the double-strap (which i purchased today!)
Attached are several photos of your strap in action in Iraq. I know they arent great photos, if you are interested in better photos for marketing or whatever let me know, we could take some better ones with that in mind. I could take some with the double-strap when it gets here.

You Guys are Killing Me
My partner here at the studio (my wife) has absconded permanently with my R-Strap. What caused this you ask? That little gem I received on Thursday that links two straps into a harness. Well to test you need two straps right? The math doesn’t work in my favor my one plus her one = none for me and a set for her. Way to go guys. I’m about to break my buddy Al’s heart and put a link to your strap right by his, and to think he and I have collaborated on enhancements and modifications that I use every day ~ he’s gonna take me out of his will. You guys hit this last little tool right on the money, great job. When the economy picks back up I’ll send in an order for the double strap (will make me one up on the cool factor) and stop hanging my cameras from Al’s quick releases attached to a Think Tank harness. By the way Al is Al Stegmeyer from UpStrap, a hell of an engineer but he just got beat out by someone better. People comment on our straps wherever we go hope it does your sales some good.
Regards

Nothing too girly….just a little style:)

I just purchased my strap a couple of months ago, and I mostly love it. It’s far more comfortable than a traditional neck strap, but I was sad to pass up all of the really cute “designer” neck straps. Flash forward to last week, when I had an idea of how to make my BlackRapid strap a little cuter. I bought some 7/8″ ribbon that matched my camera bag, and sewed it onto the black nylon strap. It came out great and didn’t affect function one bit:) So then I was thinking, my son plays electric guitar, and he has all sorts of cool straps where the design is actually woven into, or printed onto the nylon strapping. Easy! So anyhow, I just thought you might get more women to take the leap in trying a BlackRapid if they had a feminine option. Nothing too girly….just a little style:) I’ve included a photo of my newly stylized strap, let me know what you think:)

I can honestly say
Hey Ron,Just a quick note to say how much I loved using the strap. I can honestly say that there are two things that have changed the way I use a camera – digital imaging and the RB strap (maybe a slight exaggeration but sincere). I took some shots from the field and I’ll pass them along when I get a chance but I really appreciate you getting it into my hands so quickly.
Cheers,
Josh

Samy’s Camera
The Rstrap “Now in Stock”Click Here
highly recommended
The BlackRapid R-Strap :: I got this thing a few months ago and it has been a savior for me. The normal camera strap would never stay on my shoulder, especially when you’re moving around, twisting in different ways, and especially when you need your hands free. But the R-Strap goes diagonally over your shoulder and across your body, and is actually very comfortable, even when lugging around the 70-200 lens. Plus, it’s pretty convenient to pull up and shoot away. So if you’re looking for a better camera strap, this one is highly recommended. (A little tip for you owners, when you screw the strap into the bottom of the camera, make sure you tighten the L-shaped metal screw first, and then rotate in the circular nut until everything’s tight, to prevent it from coming undone and your camera crashing to the ground. Also periodically check to make sure everything’s still tight!)Click Here

R-Strap by BlackRapid – Camera Strap Review
by Chas ElliottSince starting photography first as a hobby and now professionally, I’ve upgraded lenses, filters, bags and even my computer all to aid in my pursuit of the art. For some reason, one thing I had never thought of upgrading was the most basic camera accessory of all, the camera strap.

Both Work Great!

When Chow Yun-Fat busted out two pistols in The Killer, suddenly no actor could be caught dead on screen with just one. We can only hope this Double Strap will do the same for SLRs.The RS DR-1 Double Strap is John Woo’s take on wedding photography, a means to shoot two lenses at once, in different directions if necessary. Because you never know when the bride will attack her sister from one angle, while the groom passes out intoxicated from another.

Just got back from Pakistan
Just got back from Pakistan. Your strap worked great. Someday I would like a version without the big pad. Something smaller and more discreet. But, the design is wonderful. Thanks. Also, the new silver connector came right before the trip. Big difference. Love it.

No shoulder pain
Hi Ron,I have already written how great the BlackRapid strap is for someone with separated shoulders. Now I have to commend you on the Couple R. I was shooting a Porsche Club race with a 24-70 on a D3 and 70-200 on a D300 with the MB 10 battery. I wore the Couple R for several hours and was very comfortable. No shoulder pain even with the temperature reaching 90.
Great Work.

"photographer" to "soldier" in the blink of an eye!!
Dear BlackRapid Guru’s, Thank you, thank you, thank you! Just received my second RS-4 and the CoupleR today…. I could not be more pleased! I am a US Navy Reservist with NECC Det Combat Camera Norfolk and will be deploying to Iraq mid-June. The two RS-4 system with the CoupleR provides the PERFECT solution to being able to carry two camera bodies, an M-4 Assault Rifle and video gear. While I LOVE the RS-4 as is, wearing two crisscrossed across the neck was not an optimal situation…. Add in an M-4, video gear, and ammo pouches all on your chest, and being able to gain access to either the cameras or the rifle quickly without one getting in the way of the other became almost impossible. An inconvenience as best…. a life-threatening gaggle of straps and gear at worst! Now with the CoupleR, the RS-4′s are moved back to the shoulders as with a normal strap, yet are secure, and still provide the ease of use, speed and protection that the RS-4 is famous for! PERFECT! I am now totally confident that going into a combat situation I have the best solution on the market for carrying two bodies! And I can go from “photographer” to “soldier” in the blink of an eye!! I will make sure to take some images of the RS-4′s and the CoupleR assembly while deployed and make those images available to you. I will also be recommending to my chain of command that the kit of two RS-4′s and the CoupleR become standard issue gear for all DoD Combat Photographers. Respectfully yours, MC2 Edwin L “Bo” Wriston NECC Det Combat Camera NorfolkApril 26, 2009

I love how the “R” in the strap matches my grandmother’s vintage yellow necklace I wore that day. It’s always great when accessories match!

Finally, the God-awful neck-strap is dead. Long the Live the King.
Milo and The Team,Many thanks for the very speedy response and shipping of my order. I very much look forward to receiving my RS-4 strap.
I’ve been involved in photography for over forty years, and quite why no-one has had the brains to design and develop such a brilliantly simple idea before, I have absolutely no idea – but then, true genius isn’t at all common or we’d all be at it! Finally, the God-awful neck-strap is dead. Long the Live the King.
Good luck with the business, and thanks again for dealing with my order… when the strap arrives, it’s going to make a lot of friends very jealous.
Best wishes,

Your straps changed the way I shoot!
Hey guys and gals at BlackRapid!Just wanted to take a minute and tell you that purchasing this BlackRapid R-strap a few months ago was literally one of, if not the best, purchase I have made in my photography career to this point! Being a major league baseball shooter means I am shooting everything, all over the place at all times! From on-field pre-game events, to fans in the stands, to game action on the field, your straps changed the way I shoot! Now I am not worried about dropping my 400 or missing a critical play at the plate with my 70-200 because I have to finagle with the shoulder strap. It literally is now just pulling the trigger and getting the shot! Thanks for a great invention. I am raving about this to all of the other Phoenix Pro Shooters and all of the other MLB shooters, and am making sure they know how pleased I am with your strap!
Thanks again!
(photo of me running around crazy on opening day is attached! Thank God for the R-Strap!)

I LOVE your R-Strap SOOOO very much!
“I just want to tell you that I LOVE your R-Strap SOOOO very much!I’ve posted on Facebook about it – hopefully you will get a few more photogs to get the strap (I apparently helped sell a TON of Jillian Michaels DVD’s for her by posting about it so hopefully you will benefit from this too).
Also, that shipping was SO fast. Thanks for getting it here by Friday – I didn’t even have to beg. I had a wedding last weekend and it was a delight to have that strap on the camera.”

I now have two badly separated shoulders
I have tried many straps but none are as comfortable as the BlackRapid. I now have two badly separated shoulders and only the BlackRapids can provide me with support and comfort over an entire days shooting. The design allows the camera t stay away from others so if you are on mass transit there is no worry that the lens is going to bumped into others. In addition, if is raining or snowing, the strap can be internal to your coat and the camera is protected. You only have to zipper it open and be able to shoot. With traditional straps, your camera is out in the elements and subject to all the vagaries of nature.Jed

The R-Strap is very different from the traditional camera strap, which I hate – really hate. I hate wearing a camera strap that rubs my neck raw and makes the camera bounce against my chest while I walk. I hate trying to carry a camera with a traditional strap over one shoulder and having to hunch my shoulder up a bit just to keep the strap from sliding off or just constantly adjusting it. I hate this kind of discomfort and inconvenience even more when I’m shooting all day long. Any wedding, event, or sports shooters out there with me?
